Local writer dissects the Broadway Plan in letter to Council

From time to time, UKRA re-publishes stories by other publications. This letter was written by a local Vancouver writer who opposes the Broadway Plan. With thanks to CityHallWatch.

In his June 5 letter to Vancouver City Council, Professional Planner Stephen Mikicich decries the Broadway Plan, saying “it appears to be a plan built on rhetoric and advocacy by the development industry.”

Among other points, Mikicich discusses the erosion of community planning at City Hall, and the fallacy that the plan will create affordable housing in Vancouver.

There are still two more days to send your comments to Council on the Broadway plan. Council meets on Thursday, June 9 from 3 to 10 pm to approve, amend, or reject the Plan. Photo: City of Vancouver.
