Upper Kitsilano Residents Association launches new website

And now for some good news: the Upper Kitsilano Residents Association team is pleased to announce the launch of our new website at upperkitsilano.ca.

Your new site is an easy-to-navigate online presence that will:

  • Keep you apprised of the latest news and policies affecting Upper Kitsilano,
  • Inform you about coming votes, hearings, and petitions so you can take part in the political process,
  • Provide you with a forum to discuss zoning and other issues with your neighbours,
  • Give Upper Kitsilano a platform from which to send messages to all levels of government and other decision-makers,
  • Link Upper Kitsilano to other Vancouver residents associations,
  • Let residents get involved with the association, by becoming a member, volunteering, or subscribing to our email updates, and
  • Act as an archive for statements from UKRA and news that relates to Upper Kitsilano and Vancouver as a whole.

We think we’ve succeeded in reflecting the neighbourhood through its stories and images. Read about concerns over the coming Senakw development in Kitsilano expected to house 12,000 people, the Broadway Plan, UBC subway extension, and more.

Our online presence won’t stop at upperkitsilano.ca — in the coming months we’ll be working to link our site to a dedicated UKRA Facebook page. Let us know what you think about the new online home for UKRA, and what else you might want to see there in the future. We welcome your comments!

Developing a site and meeting the commitment to keep it up-to-date takes an extraordinary amount of volunteer work; that work has been performed by a small team led by Evelyn Jacob, including UKRA web whisperer Chris Wong and photographer David Ferman, as well as past and present UKRA directors. To them, we offer our deepest thanks for sharing their knowledge and for making the site a (beautiful) reality. We also thank our member supporters for their generous financial contributions.
